The ever-evolving research in the field of antitubercular agents has led to identification several new potential drug classes. Among them, 5-phenyl-furan-2-carboxylic acids have emerged as innovative therapeutics, targeting iron acquisition mycobacterial species. In our efforts characterize molecular interactions between these compounds and their protein target (MbtI from M. tuberculosis) by means co-crystallization experiments, we unexpectedly obtained structure 5-(4-nitrophenyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid (1). Herein, describe preparation compound its analysis 1H NMR, 13C HRMS, SC-XRD.
